New Signing – Aiden McFadden

The first three matches have gone as well as anyone could have hoped, but that isn’t stopping Coach Danny Cruz from adding to his already stacked roster. Aiden McFadden, an outside back, has been on most fans’ wishlist for their club for the past few years after being the lone bright spot on an otherwise forgettable Atlanta United 2 team. This dynamic young star will be sporting purple for the remainder of the season as he has been loaned to Louisville City from ATL.

The 25-year-old played for Notre Dame in college and spent some time with his hometown NPLS side West Chester United in 2018. Atlanta United selected him 59th overall in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft. He, ironically, made his pro debut with Twonited at LOU in April 2021. He’d go on to turn heads in the USL and earn his first MLS appearance less than a year later. Atlanta did a nice little write-up on his towards the of 2022 if you want a little more personal look at his first few tastes of pro play outside of ATL2. 2023 saw him with Memphis 901 of the back half of the season which came to an end at the hands of none other than LouCity.

The rich get richer. If you have paid attention to the USL over the past few seasons, you know this name. And you know how unfair it is that we get to add him to an already talented collection of players. I’m all for it. “My mom’s favorite color is purple, so it made the decision to come to Louisville pretty straightforward,” McFadden said. “The fact that it’s the best club in the USL helped a bit as well. Louisville City has set the standard in the USL for nearly a decade, and they’ve done it with class. They have built something truly special here, and I’m grateful to now be part of this storied club.” I think he will do just fine here. “This is a player that we believe will continue to push our group to be at our best every single day,” Coach Cruz stated of the loan move. “When we look at the attributes that he brings to our roster, he is a player that will provide us a lot of quality in the final third while also fitting in with a group of players that have done an excellent job through preseason and the first few weeks of the season.” The right side just got some more competition that will only make the squad better. Looking forward to seeing him in action!
