Another USL Academy contract has been signed, bringing Alex Kron into the mix and available for immediate selection in USL matches, beginning with tonight’s match against Tulsa. Joining the likes of Carlos Moguel and Sebastian Sanchez, Kron is the first goalkeeper to make the leap to pro play from Louisville City’s growing youth movement. The 6’3” St. Xavier student adds needed immediate depth with the absence of Chris Hubbard and Simon Lefebvre. He was part of the Louisville Soccer Alliance’s LSA/ LSC Alumni 2017 - 2018 State Team and completed the Olympic Development Program. This season he has12 saves and one complete game shutout, a 4-0 win against Collegiate (stats courtesy of Chris Mattingly). “Alex has consistently impressed us both in training and in our USL Academy League games,” said Coach Danny Cruz. “We believe he has a bright future ahead of him, and we are looking forward to playing a role in his continued development. This signing is also a testament to the hard work that our academy staff continues to put in on a daily basis. It’s an exciting moment to welcome another academy signing into the first team rotation.” Alex Kron stated, "It's great to be a part of the hometown team that I grew up supporting. I’m excited to get out there with all the guys and experience the fans because I was once a fan." Info on his St X play can be found on MaxPreps and highlight videos are available on SportsRecruits.
