LouCity’s young standout, Jonathan Gomez, has long been tied to a move to Europe. Because of FIFA restrictions, that move would not be possible for him until the age of 18. Based on several social media posts, JoGo has been on trial in Alcochete, Portugal, home of Sporting CP. Given that his older brother, Johan Gomez, is also in Portugal, it’s not entirely shocking that he could land in the Primeira Liga. A bright future lies ahead for the 17-year-old US Youth international.
JoGo has been consistently listed as one of the better youth prospect for the US national team, so it comes as no surprise that his stay with us in Louisville is looking to be short. He is under contract with LouCity, and it's expected that he could command a transfer fee for the club upon leaving. A move like this is not only great for JoGo but LouCity as well. Rather than waiting until he was 18 in the FC Dallas Academy, he chose to grow with LouCity in the USL. I am thrilled that he spent part of his professional career with us and I am excited to see what the future hold for the young talent!

Jonathan Gomez was the feature on a piece from Goal.com which claimed that clubs such as Man City, Dortmund, and PSV have expressed various levels of interest! The future is looking very bright for this young player!
