When I decided to become an active member of the Louisville City soccer community by starting VamosMorados.com in 2020, I had no idea how many doors it would open. One of the coolest and most unexpected opportunities it has led to has been my involvement in radio. Then-host Lance McGarvey took early notice of the site and my writing, and he invited me on as a call-in guest for one segment of the show in November 2020. It was the show immediately following the release of the short-lived “four-sided triangle” crest, which feels like a lifetime ago. I made a number of appearances on the show in 2021, and by 2022, I was given the chance to serve as a host. A year later, I even began to get periodic opportunities to be on the radio broadcast for matches doing color commentary! One could likely hear the nervous energy in my voice when I began—imposter syndrome is real, y’all. However, I like to think I’ve grown and found my own radio presence. I tried to stay true to my fan perspective and passion and to share my genuine feelings and thoughts. I’m proud of that growth, considering my lack of media experience.

Tomorrow is my last episode of Soccer City Radio. Commitments outside the world of soccer will require more of my attention, so it felt like the appropriate time to step down. Closing this chapter has put me in a reflective mindset. I am overwhelmed with gratitude that I got such a unique opportunity to be on the airwaves, talking about the team I fell in love with—one that also helped me grow closer to the city I now call home. If you tuned in at all during my tenure, thank you. It has brought me so much joy to have the chance to share my perspective, and I hope you found it engaging and entertaining.

There are so many people who deserve a shout-out! First, my wife, Megan, for her support and for allowing me to dive fully into my LouCity obsession. My parents, Dave and Mary Beth, are not soccer people, but they tuned in for every radio appearance just to hear their son. Thank you both for the many hours you spent on the back porch listening over the years! Jonathan Lintner, Soccer Holdings’ VP of Marketing and Communications, for allowing me to be a voice on the club-hosted show. ESPN 680/105.7 for making it all happen and getting us on the airwaves. Lance McGarvey for his ongoing support of my site and for giving me my early opportunities on the show. Jeff Milby, who has always been a very encouraging presence and a total radio pro, which made things so much easier for someone lacking formal training, such as myself. I also owe a shout-out to all the hosts I’ve had the privilege of sharing the airwaves with. Along with Jeff Milby, I’ve had the pleasure of discussing our local professional soccer with Jeff Greer, Casey Whitfield, Zach Allen-Kelly, and Aidan Riggs. Last but not least are the players and staff of both Louisville City and Racing Louisville. There is no show without their hard work on the pitch. Special thanks to those who shared their time and were guests on the show.

My radio days may be done, but I plan to continue on with VamosMorados.com, so don’t forget to check in. My love for Louisville City is still as strong as ever. I’ll catch you all at Lynn Family Stadium. VAMOS MORADOS!
