As of this writing, we are less than TWO WEEKS from the start of the regular season! I can hardly contain my excitement. I’m not only thrilled about the return of live soccer to Lynn Family Stadium, but I am incredibly optimistic about how the team has come together this offseason. There have been a number of fantastic additions to the squad and Coach Danny Cruz has had a full offseason to imprint his style of play on the players. There are many storylines heading into this 2
Veteran goalkeeper Danny Faundez is the latest Louisville City signing coming by way of open tryouts. Faundez is a 29-year-old dual citizen of the United States and Chile. He spent 3 years in Chile as part of Everton de Viña del Mar’s youth academy system before joining Bellevue College, where he notched four shutouts and 50 saves as a freshman in 2014. In 2015, he joined Seattle Sounders 2, now known as the Tacoma Defiance. He is coming off a two-year spell with Orange Count
In recent years, you may have noticed some changes within the USL. This change isn’t as readily apparent as new clubs joining the USL Championship, soccer-specific stadiums being built, or clubs undergoing rebranding. It’s been a key piece of Louisville City’s success. Roster stability. While turnover is inevitable, especially in a league where one-year contracts are the norm, LouCity has always maintained the core of its team. That continuity has undeniably been a factor in
Coach Danny Cruz’s latest signing hails from outside the US soccer ecosystem. The 6’2” Spaniard Ian Pino Soler is the latest to join Louisville City’s 2022 campaign. The 26-year-old center back began his career in the youth ranks of RCD Espanyol (Spain), before spending time at Fulham (England), Atlético Malagueño (Spain), MFK Zemplín Michalovce (Slovakia), and most recently Zagłębie Lubin (Poland). While listed as a center back, he can also play as a 6 (defensive midfield).
Manny Perez is the latest player to join Coach Danny Cruz’s 2022 Louisville City squad. The right-footed 22-year-old most recently spent time under contract with the Portland Timbers but on loan with Austin FC in the MLS. Before that, he was signed with Celtic but was loaned to North Carolina FC. His debut with North Carolina was LouCity’s 2019 first regular-season match. He's eligible for selection in games this week set for Wednesday (vs. El Paso Locomotive FC) and Saturday
Louisville City’s raid of the Sporting Kansas City roster continues! Following in the footsteps of both Amadou Dia and Matiti Mushagalusa, Wilson Harris will join Morados for the 2022 campaign. The 22-year-old had a short stint in the Seattle Sounders FC Academy (like Ray Serrano) before committing to play collegiality with the Louisville Cardinals in 2018. He would instead go on to sign for SKC2 (then Swope Park Rangers) and make his USL debut that May and would go on to sco
